Unique Visitor

A Unique Visitor refers to a single person who visits a website, and is a term used when analysing website traffic. The one thing to remember with a unique visitor, is that it is completely different to that of a standard site visitor, page view, or website hit. A unique visitor has its own independent IP address, so no matter how many times that unique visitor returns to visit the site, the unique visit will only count once. There are some hosting companies that use alternating IP Addresses, so web analytics programs that record unique visitors by IP will be recording page views as their unique visits in this case.
